Report from street fairs
As I had written before, we were registered to participate at two street fairs. But, because of bad weather, the fair in Westfield was canceled.
This report is about street fair in Summit.
When I write "we" I mean, of course, myself.
I had spent about 7 hours under a tent and a sign explaining what the Great Task organizational is about and collecting signatures for the petition in support of Fair Elections Now act.
I am happy to report that I was able to collect seven (7!!!) signatures from a few brave citizens (including my wife). First of all, I would to thank those people - all of them women - who were kind enough to acknowledge my presence and to talk to me.
The rest of the population was just not interesting or were confusing me with ACORN, as this organization's name was popping out once in a while.
This experience kind of showed that people mistrust not just the government, but any political group, as I was asked a few times who is behind Great Task. It took a lot of convincing on my part to tell them that I have no backing from any deep pockets.
In any case, there was a great feeling of malaise - people just weren't interested in political events. There were happy being robbed blind by financial services industry, higher taxes, declining dollar, and high unemployment.
Well, this just proves one more time - people deserve their own government.
