Am I my brother's keeper?

The simple fact is that we all are going to die some day. There is no way to prevent this from happening. However, we all hope that

a) this will not happen any time soon,

but if it does it would not cause

b) suffering to ourselves and

c) our close ones.

Access to health care is a fundamental factor to achieving all three goals. Yet, our current health care system routinely denies access to millions with "preexisting condition" or to the ones who cannot afford insurance, let alone the medical procedures. Thus, millions and millions of people SUFFER in pain in this country because of that.

Yet, illness is a major cause of bankruptcies in this country, even for people WITH HEALTH INSURANCE. Thus, we have people spending their meager savings, loosing their home because they fell sick. Obviously, it impacts not just the people who are ill, but also their families.

This is a very sick system that needs to be changed.
